First I want to dedicate this web site to HalH, were it not for Hal my build would not be where it is today. I started this project as a complete novice; I had not built a model airplane in thirty years and had never built one from scratch. When I purchased the plans for the T-28 I assumed I would get something in the way of instructions. That is not the case, nor was I able to obtain any help from Dave Platt. In fact when I explained to Dave Platt I was a novice his suggestion was I sell the plans and the laser cut kit and forget trying to build this airplane.
At the young age of 19 I joined the Navy in January of 1969, on the condition I would get to work on airplanes. After boot camp I was sent to "A" School in Memphis Tennessee to become an airframes mechanic, an AMS. After completing "A" School I was sent to my first squadron, VT2 at NAS Whiting Field in Milton Florida. My fondness for the T-28 began there where I spent the next two years. The nostalgia I had for this airplane caused me to want to build one and I searched high and low for a kit to no avail. I did however find the Dave Platt Plans and decided I could do this. After my plans arrived I decided to buy the wood from Precession Laser Cut Kits. When it arrived I was a kid all over again. Over the next few days I became completely overwhelmed by the task in front of me. It is then I began to search for help. Much to my surprise HalH answered that call. It started out with a few simple questions about steps I was far from ready for. But from that beginning I have the great honor to have Hal take me under his wing and teach me his tricks, and methods. Hal was a Naval Aviation Officer and trained in the T-28 at the same NAS Whiting Field where I would be stationed almost twenty years later. He is without a doubt the consummate expert on the T-28. He has also built three of them including the Dave Platt T-28.
With that said Hal I dedicate this site to you.
